Numbers showed clearly: Companies benefit from service on social media

SAP.com, Pivotcon.com and SocialMediaToday.com has joined forces to create an infographic called "The Social Customer Service Conflict".

The message of the infographic is basically how much companies benefit from customer service on social media. More and more companies are realizing that social media is the only place to be, if one wants to optimize customer service.

The infographic suceed in explaining heavy data in an original and novel way - take a look at the different graphs and see how they are carefully selected to the present the data in the best way.

The use of colors and the four column view makes the infographic easy to read. The colours separate the different topics, but they are - together with the white background - light so that we can easier read the numbers inside the columns.

You can say that the infographic is quite text and number heavy, but the white background and the grayscale in the different infographics makes it easier to read. Had the colours not been chosen wisely we would perhaps have perceived the information more dense.

There is some decoration in the inforgraphic - the stopwatches in the right column for example. But I like it when they are chosen wisely to tell the message.

  1. I don't like the format of your blog, I think is too much serious and boring. Well, the infographics are pretty good and the explanation too.

    1. Hi Andrea, I regret that my blog does not appeal to a person like you. I thought you were about to become a journalist - how can a journalist student find content about social media and how we use it boring? I do not get that. However, I appreciate your criticism.

I have made a single post that is more or less "unserious" if you like - but still tells an interesting message. It is called "36 rules on social media".

  2. i really like this graphic because it gives a lot of information how companies can benefit by interacting with their customers. i totally agree with you that the colors of the background and the different colors of different paragraphs guide me through the graphic. however, i find that that the graphic is highly abstract and that there is an overload of text and information which doesn't make it really attractive for me to spend a lot of time on reading the graphic.
however, i think that this graphic is mentioned to be read for a longer period, so i think it is a really good example to show that an infographic can also provide the viewer with an high amount of information and the use of text and different graphics is a good balance to keep people following the graphic.

    1. Hi Simon. I agree that there is indeed a lot of text in the infographic, which might scare some readers - but I think the designer made a good choice of colors to make the infographic more light.
